Culture of HDD
Internships at Hart-Davidson Designs provide a great experience for junior and senior interior design students who are looking to be involved in professional situations where they can develop a stronger understanding of design application, conception and how to manage designer-client relationships.

Our studio is a great place to learn under the guidance of Leslie Hart-Davidson, BA, Allied Member ASID. Everything you could possibly need to plan, design and create is available. There is a variety of coordinator positions such as: senior intern coordinator, philanthropy coordinator, workroom coordinator, studio coordinator, marketing coordinator, and community education coordinator. There are also business management opportunities including: graphic design, web site and tech management, and business management intern.

Democratic Design
Our mantra, and our mission: Democratic Design. The work environment we believe in depends on a democratic perspective. There is so much that can be learned from one another, and so many incredible ideas that can be absorbed, changed, and shared through designing democratically.

For design interns the difference at HDD is that you actually get to work on projects here where as most other internships only allow interns to file samples, and generally perform secretarial duties. Here you will accompany Leslie on client visits, conduct interviews, create renderings and drawings, and engage in constant communication with subcontractors.

You get to do everything, and be involved in every process. Essentially this experience is what you make it.
Some interns have even gone on to be full time employees!

Leadership and Development
One of the greatest offerings at HDD is giving interns the responsibility and resources to enhance and improve on positions that are available. We encourage interns to think big. Previously, we have had interns who excelled in maintaining vendor relationships, that in turn provided the ability to take on larger clients. There are many different coordinator positions, and unique leadership opportunities at hand.
The most learning happens when our interns use self-discipline and creativity to make and improve upon the possibilities of existing positions. With a little passion and motivation, you can take this opportunity to grow and transition from design intern into a knowledgeable and experienced designer.
